Creator Notes:

Ruth is one of the characters to go through a slight change from before. The new Ruth isn’t locked away consciously like she was in the previous version. I kind of wanted her to have her own personality shine in the series on top of Kaji’s overdramatic crying personality.

Ruth is a neat freak, which is in contrast to Kaji’s more chaotic order.

Ruth’s natural hair color is black, but when her dad wanted to drum up business for the shop, she and him dyed their hair green. After her mother died, she added a streak of blond that came out too blond compared to her mom’s strawberry blond.

Kaji makes an effort to keep Ruth alive and binds his soul to hers.

Ruth is an average student in basic courses but excels at crafts, machine building.

After Tetra learns about her, she takes on the task to help Ruth’s father with education, and Kaji helps by teaching her about his training in metal craft, the Japanese language, and about supernatural creatures.

Ruth’s favorite food is Strawberry Shortcake.

When I first designed her, I debated on making her a boy or girl since Mai and Tetsu were already a mixed match of sexes. But when the concept of Tetsu being trans came into play, I got used to the idea of the two being bonded.

While Ruth has consciousness, her soul is weak, and often Kaji will take over the body and tend to act panicked and yet try to play it off as the gentlemanly thing to do.

Eventually, in the series joins the fight. It will be a while after her skills as support are already shown.

Ruth treats Tetra/Tetsu and Ino like her big sisters, Kyle like an older brother, Mai like an annoying little kid, and is creeped out with Lori.
