Creator Notes:
I designed August out of a fluke in the last run. As I was still working out the relationship of Kyle and Tetsu. I figured if Kyle was popular he would have followers willing to hurt someone that gains his affection. When it came time to draw the issue “A Hearts Storm Within” I drew a group of girls attacking Tetsu and threatening him in the beginning. The leader of which became the development of August.
While I have long term plans for August to become a fitting rival down the line for Tetsu. Upon this run I found it important to have her in the series early on. Even her being one of the villains of the upcoming issue 8 called “Of Magic Girls and Monsters”
While early on in the issues Mai is mostly the source of the problems the two come across, August in issues (mainly ones that have never appeared) would be the cause of much of the problems as she seeks for a way to beat Tetsu and Mai, freeing Kyle from Tetsu’s magical grasp as she dubs it.
When I designed her I knew her hair was going to be a big issue with drawing and looking right. I wanted her looks to be sex and seductive with hints at how she develops later in the story.
On top of the three friends, later in the series August will be responsible for one of the strongest and toughest opponents to Mai in particular.
Kyle actually doesn’t like August, having seen how she acts around others. And will usually spur her advances on but in a kind way.
